 Worry Doll

From the Notebooks of Johnathan Spencer Snr (Now deceased)

One of the more reliable (if unsettling) devices in a spirit mage's toolkit, a worry doll is a small wax doll imbued with the power to sense something the user fears and react accordingly.
The components are a white candle, three drops of blood, three tears and three hairs. All the organic components must come from the caster.
The ritual involves burning the candle until it is entirely melted, all the while chanting the names of things and people you fear.
Once you have the melted pool of wax you add the three tears while heating it. This will summon a minor imp of anxiety or a nature spirit of a small skittish creature depending on the school of magic used.
Then you form the warm mixture into a humanoid shape and put the hairs in the top. This binds the spirit to the doll.
Finally you carve mystic runes into the now hardening doll and shed the three drops of blood onto it. This makes the charm permanent and binds it fully to the user.
After that, in the presence of something that would cause the user fear or anxiety, the doll will react and it's hair or body will change to identify the type of threat.
While the nature spirit variant is safer to make, it has a nasty tendancy to go mad in the presence of owls or cats.
Worry doll charms are quite easy to destroy and being that they hold several major components for sympathetic magic each are a risky item to use unless the caster is willing to destroy it.

N.B. A very useful tool, unless of course one already is of an anxious disposition. Then it is merely a liability.
