She paused, and nodded, "Okay... no TV... how about the phone then?" she asked, raising a brow, she at least hoped enough of her explanations had gotten through that she knew that was just a way of talking to people she actually knew.

"I... I do not have anyone I would... Call is the right word, isn't it?" she questioned, hoping her terminology was improving. "But yes, I would not have anyone to call, but you. And if I wish to speak to you, I will."

Standing up Narisse moved over towards Lao Hua, "There has to be people you know in this place other than me, right, even if all you do is say hi, find out how they're doing, that sort of thing. You know?"

The woman slowly shook her head, letting out a soft noise. "Who would wish to know me, other than you?"

That made her laugh slightly, not to taunt the other woman's naivete, but merely because the question was so innocently genuine coming from her lips. "Right now, I'm not sure, but the whole point of socialising is to find that sort of thing out! It's not healthy that I'm your only friend y'know!"

There was a long pause before Lao Hua spoke again. "I do not yet believe myself ready to find new friends. And I do not believe there are many here who would be close to the ones we lost." That sadness that had weighed on her since they left came to the surface now, her serenity tinged with sorrow.

Nar paused momentarily, before stepping forward and gently laying a hand upon Lao Hua's shoulder, offering her a soft, if somewhat pained smile. "Hey... people can change, and you don't always have to dwell on the past. Most of my friends are very different from the people I used to know... that's what makes this modern life more interesting, and how I've changed as a person over all these years. Maybe there's some wisdom you can gain from that, from me, for a chagne, huh?"

"For you to change Narisse, you would have to gain some form of discipline. I have yet to see any evidence towards that..." she replied, taking a breath and the sadness was pushed away. As always, emotion held at arm's length.

"Hey~!" she said, poking her tongue out as she pulled her hand back to fold her arms, "I have discipline... when I choose to use it!"
She then sighed, and chuckled a little bit more, turning and pacing to the other side of the room, "What I mean is that I've made an effort to find out how things are different, and adjust my view of the world. That's all."

"I already know how I view the world. Everything is different now. I believe I should return to my plants, they need tending..." Lao Hua let out a soft sigh, visibly collecting herself as she did.

There was just a soft sigh that came from Narisse at that point, but, defeated, she nodded. "Alright... have fun, I guess..."
Not much else to say really, her sifu was as stubborn as she ever had been, and a living example of the old dog with all the new tricks to learn.

"I bid you good evening then Narisse. And... I am sorry." With that last part said, she disappeared quickly, retreating to the room her plants were kept in, one thing she did seem to find solace in.
