The woman looked at them, pausing for a moment to think before saying "I admit these are all very good questions. I shall let you know the answers as soon as I have them. Although, if you wish a fire, the first step is to gather dry wood." She was utterly calm in this, although her brow creased a little, seemingly puzzled by her lack of knowledge in some areas, but not in others.

"Sorry we stole your thunder... how's that fire coming? Pace a bit faster and the grass might catch fire." Kendall finally sits back up again and looks around at the bank they're on. "Well considering that Dam over there..."

With a theatrical bow, Lee-Ben turns to Kendell. "Forgive me your highness, would Sir care for me to wash his feet as well?" Moving towards the tree-line, Lee-Ben starts collecting kindling, grateful to be moving.

Alard's gaze was focused on the young woman, while he removed the sodden coat from his shoulders and shook it out a moment. "Let me get this straight..." he said, ignoring the mild domestic happening beside him, and approaching the mud streaked woman, "you have no idea where you are, why you're here... or even who you are? No wonder your chakra are so out of alignment..."

"I know that a sword sticking out of my torso is not my natural state of being. Nor this level of mud, but I am going to wait a little bit before approaching water again. Waking up in quite such manner has left me..." She paused, her head cocking to the side again as she seemed to be searching for the right word for what she was feeling. "Apprehensive about such things."

"This river flows right into the city but we're about 20 miles out... There are plenty of settlements along the way that we could head to by following the river though." If hot up and joined Lee-Ben in gathering sticks ; "so do we dry out first or start walking?"

Crouched over, Lee-Ben blows hot air onto his hands, in a vain attempt to feel warm. "I would personally prefer to get moving, unless you have any objections?" Rising to his feet, he glances over at the woman and Alard. "I'd rather not get caught out here if the weather turns and I'd feel better if we were somewhere which would allow us to try and get some answers about our new acquaintance." Turning back to Kendall, Lee-Ben offers a conspiratorial smile. "Preferably somewhere with a tavern, I owe you a drink for pulling me out of that mess."

Alard looked over at the other two men, holding a hand in the woman's direction for a moment, "While I'm sure our current location is an interesting thing to know when we intend to make a move, I must ask... are neither of you two at all concerned about the woman who we just dragged out of a raging river? Who by all accounts, should be dead, given the sword in her chest, the unknown length of time she was under the water..."
He then looked back at her and sighed, "And the unhealthy way her Qi is imbalanced... who has no idea who she is?" He sighed heavily and brought a hand to his forehead, muttering under his breath, "Calm down Alard... these people need help..." Clearing his throat he then nodded, "However, I agree with your assessment, we would be better served in more homely surroundings, if for no other reason than the greater availability of medical professionals..."

"I can personally assure you that I am in no need of medical professionals, as for your companions, they all appear fit and well, aside from obvious dampness concerns. As such I recommend warming yourselves and drying out before making such a trek, as doing so in damp clothing will invite a variety of ailments upon yourselves." She paused, looking between the three men.
"Unless walking moderate distances in dripping wet clothing is in fact beneficial to your health? Today does seem to be a day of medical marvels."

"In that case we both owe this man a drink for pulling us both out all the way.. and the mysterious lady owes all three of us a drink." He chuckled slightly. "I'm not incredibly concerned about a woman who can be run through and shrug it off, she seems like she can hold her own. . Well we have one vote for walk from Lee-Ben and one for fire.. from, sorry I didn't catch your name?"

"Alard. Alard Holte," he replied, turning away from the young lady and looking out along the length of the river, furrowing his brow momentarily as he contemplates their situation, glancing across to Lee-Ben and pursing his lips. There was a few moments pause before he spoke again.
"Mister Kendall, perhaps you and 'Nix could see about gathering us some firewood, I'll see about some sort of makeshift lean-to. Nix is right, if we try and start on a trek of gods only know how many miles we could all freeze in our own clothes."

The woman paused for a moment, looking at Alard. "What did you call me? Is that my name, do you know me?"

Alard had already begun to move when his attention was caught again. "Hmm?" he turned towards the woman, "Oh! My apologies, unfortunately I don't... Nix, from Phoenix... seemed appropriate." He shrugged slightly, "After all, we can't just keep referring to you in the third person."

"Ah, yes, that is sensible..." she replied slowly, nodding in agreement but there was a air of disappointment about her, the possibility of knowing her actual name denied after hope being raised. "I shall go and gather wood, as you requested. Come along Mister Kendall." She turned and started to head out to collect wood.

"Well if you're going to insist on adding Mister then it'll be "Mister Ditherx" but just Kendall is fine." He hurried after and picked up what would he could find. "Phoenix is a bit of an antithesis, isn't it? you rose out of water."

"I think it is a reference to the boiling nature of the water perhaps," she replied with a small shrug, gathering wood of her own.

Alard just moved off to try and find shelter... or at least supplies for it. Names aside he wanted to ensure that the group would have the best chance of making to a settlement, as he was sure did the rest of them... questions could be answered later, though he did spare a glance over his shoulder to the rest of them Survival rolls methinks?

As the survivors began to gather spare wood for a fire, several things became apparent. the first was that everything near the banks, as well as several meters up the side of the valley was either covered in river silt or hopelessly drenched. the second was the huge thunderheads rolling into the top of the valley, heralding the rains that this part of the world was famous for. they would hit in a few hours, and apart from a few trees on this side of the valley, there was not much in the way of cover. perhaps moving further downstream would reveal a village or the like where the night could be spent out of the rain?

"I think Phoenix is a beautiful name, its extremely auspicious, even if she did try to drown me." Lee-Ben comments wryly.
A while later, having tossed aside another useless damp stick, the inquisitive sighs loudly. "We are wasting our time. Had we set off immediately we could have found a village by now, and be warming ourselves by the fire." He mentions to no-one in particular. "Hot food, good wine... Yóu shén I could even cope with bad wine."
Looking across at Alard, Lee-Ben calls out. "How's the shelter coming along?"

Taking stock of the situation, Alard runs a hand through his hair, leaving a bit of water to cascade down his back, inside his shirt which causes him to shiver involuntarily. He then turns his eyes skyward and grumbles, "Great... juuuust great..."
Then, hearing the call towards him he turned to Lee-Ben and shook his head, "No go, nothing substantial enough to protect us from that stormfront coming up. We're going to have to head to the nearest village along the river and hope for the best, if it helps me and one other can ride ahead and see about getting some mounts or a carriage or something!"
What he could mean was... less than obvious at this point, seeing as none of them had any horses. Alard himself hated to have to resort to this, but time was becoming of the essence.
