To hear most other supernaturals tell it, the words 'politics' and 'society' are not something generally used with regards to the supposedly bestial, barbaric packs of lycans around the world. However, they look at the lycans through the fishbowl of their own eyes, not picking up on the subtle nuances beneath the otherwise tribal exterior. It is true, of course, that lycans organize themselves like the packs of their animal 'cousins', which are reasonably complex to begin with, but with their added intellect and human forms, that structure has been modified to suit their unique natures.
There are a trio of guiding virtues of sorts that command respect among the lycan packs. First and foremost of these is strength, like any true tribal society or wolf pack, it is the strongest among them that leads, most often with some semblance of an 'iron fist'. those that are considered weak are shunned and otherwise ostracised and ridiculed. Some might consider this harsh, but considering most lycan packs live either in the deepest parts of the wilds or are hunted by almost everyone else, it is a perfectly valid survival technique.
The second respected virtue is wisdom. Wisdom itself, whilst a rather vague and unspecific quality, is generally considered something possessed by the old and so lycans, much like vampires, have a great deal of reverence for their elders. Of course, lycan elders are as capable physically as their younger kin, in order to compete in terms of strength, but often they are the last who are called upon in times of war or hunt. The role they serve is much like the tribal shaman and elders of various native cultures around the world.
The third, and arguably least venerated, is cunning. Lycans are, after all, predators, and it is their predatory instinct and cunning that lets them eat and survive. Whilst strength and wisdom are generally meant to be earned and displayed, cunning is something expected of all lycans no matter how young or old.
