"But it is through that you will find the key to control. We cannot help you if you cannot help yourself to realise the truth." The woman sadly shook her head and turned, heading back into the monastery with her head bowed.

Her fists clenched tighter, she was angry to stop herself being afraid, but had no intention of telling this monk that, she would not stoop to that low a level. So when the monk turned away she roared out in anger as it finally overtook her, lunging forward in an attempt to strike her from behind.
She knew that she was faster and stronger than most, something about the beast that shared her soul. Her fangs were bared as she growled low and made a swipe at the other woman, more like a beast clawing at its prey than a human being.

The woman merely pivoted on one foot, turning to the side and observing blandly the hand that went past where her head had been a fraction of a second ago with almost disinterest.

Gracelessly the other woman stumbled apst the first before turning on her heel and dropping down low, breathing heavily and looking at her with narrow, furrowed eyes. Without a word, she simply yelled out as she came back for another swipe, no doubt to go careening past once more.

She bent back, the swipe going over her, not seeming to mind that her back was now parallel to the floor as she dodged another attack, straightening again as the girl moved past her. "Are you done or shall I continue?"

The other woman just growled again and literally pounced now, trying to catch the other woman with hands and fingers outstretched.

She sidestepped again, just enough to avoid each attack, always with an almost lazy grace that belayed the obvious skill this woman possessed. "You have no grace, no form. Even if I was blindfolded I would have no problem avoiding your attacks. I am not even sure that if you tried to master yourself you would get particularly far, nor do I believe you have much potential for the arts we teach here."

The words of the other woman would be lost, as once the other woman hit the floor after that final attack, there was no longer a woman's hands but furred paws... attached to the unmistakable form of a tiger. The beast turned and eyes the other woman for a moment, baring teeth with a low growl, before boundind away towards an exit and leaping through, into the mountains again.

The woman watched for a moment, her eyes widening slightly as if this finally surprised her, before remarking "Curious," before slowly walking towards the gates, closing them again; and then she was gone.

The monastery returned to its quiet serenity and solitude as its uninvited gest sped away on pure instinct. The question was whether she would be back?
One of the younger monks, who had apparently been passing stepped into the room, "My apologies Guardian but... what was that...?"

"Someone who is not yet sure if they truly wish guidance;" she replied slowly. "She reminded me..." the woman's brow creased, unpleasant memories sparking for a moment but then she calmed. "We shall see if she returns. And if she is willing to learn."

The young monk bowed his head simply, "Shall I inform the sifu?" he asked, respectfully.

"For now? No..." The woman shook her head with a soft sigh, looking out to wear the animal had ran. "I believe it will take a... Very long time before she is ready to learn."

The monk nodded and then moved to depart, "I was just taking tea... I... do not suppose you partake of such things, do you Guardian? Or else I would offer to let you join me."

"Thank you for the offer; but I must return to my duties," she replied, a small smile gracing her lips before she bowed and disappeared back into the shadows.

The monk simply bowed and departed without another word.
Over the next few weeks, it became obvious that the Guardian's opinions regarding the young woman and her intent to return were correct. Each time she came, demanded her answers from the spirit and was given the same response. And each time she was turned away, as she saw it, she reacted with unnecessary violence. More and more determined each time, she stood there huffing heavily, having maintained control for several powerful but unwieldy swings.
"Why don't you just stand still or fight back?!"

"I have been called odd at times, but I do not believe I have ever wish to be struck." The Guardian said with a soft smile, head tilting to one side. "And I have no qualm with you, so why should I wish to strike you?" She continued with her fluid evasions of the blows, a strand of hair falling loose from her tight braid as she bent back.

She paused a moment, mid-strike, before stepping back a few paces. "Fine... then let's force you to... people's tongues tend to loosen when their lives are on the line..." She darted to one side of the room and pulled a blade from its sheath on the wall. Holding it out it was obvious she was not a swordsman, but she didn't really need to know much more than hit the other guy with the sharp bit. She began toa dvance with a feral looking grin on her lips, "Answer me. Or die."

"Yet again, you ask for answers before you ask a question." She seemed unphased by the blade before her, shifting her feet slightly.
"You are not the one destined to kill me child, but you are welcome to try."

"You already know the question monk, the same ne I ask you every time you bar my entry to this little temple."
She then lunged forward, aiming the sword directly for the woman's chest and screaming out in rage as she did so.
