"There is water in the basin in the corner. Get washed, change, then meet me in the central courtyard for your training," the Guardian said briskly, closing the door again as she left.

Rubbing at her eyes he furrowed her brow deeply, "Right now...?" she asked, slowly moving to stand and look outiside, "it's barely even dark out." Looking up she noticed the Guardian had left and shook her head with a sigh, "Nice of her to give me a choice..."she muttered as she washed and changed into whatever it was she was given, robes presumably before making her way carefully outside...

It wasn't hard to find the central courtyard, a well kept garden which the Guardian was sat in the centre of, eyes closed and legs crossed.

The girl moved out into the courtyard and looked over at the Guardian, tugging slightly at her robes, "So, I'm out here far earlier than I would like... now what...?" She looked over at the horizon, had the sun even fully set yet? She knew that it burned her to go out in it... and it was rather 'early' still.

"Sit with me," was the calm reply, not even opening her eyes to look at her.

With a slight tilt of her head, the girl slowly advanced through the room, careful to avoid the lightest areas still touched by the setting sunlight. "Right... because sitting will help..." she muttered softly under her breath, sighing softly as, despite herself, she did just that. Of course it was more lounging than sitting...

"Sit properly." The Guardian said, a terse note in her voice. "You have been taught manners at some point in your life, yes? Then sit properly. And learn."
The young woman that was the Guardian sat almost completely still, her chest rising and falling gently with each breath, the light night breeze catching a few strand of her hair and playing with them.

Rolling her eyes the girl shifted and brought her legs into a more proper position, crossed beneath her as she folded her arms across her chest and just sat. "You sound more like my mother than an all-knowing Guardian Spirit..." she commented, dismissively.

"I never said I was all knowing. I said I would help you find your way. My way will not be your way, but together we may find yours. The first step to that is WánměI de jìjìng. Perfect Stillness."
Her eyes opened, looking deep into the girl's. "Find the calm place within."

"Perfect Stillness..." she repeated, the whole talk about 'her way' and 'your way' going very much over her head. But impatience was probably just going to land her in a heap of trouble again, and if this mad monk wasn't quite so mad as she looked well...
What harm was there in trying? So, she placed a hands in her lap and closed her eyes, shifting a little before opening them again at the other woman's words. That piercing, deep stare was somewhat unnerving, causing her to fidget uncomfortably.

"Stillness means not moving." Crisp words were delivered directly into her ear, as if the woman was a mere inch from her flesh.

That made her jump. Not that she wasn't expecting it but just that crisp crack of words between heartbeats. The girl scowled a little bit and then tried to settle into a still sitting position, closing her eyes again and breathing...
...
...being still was hard...

"Focus. You must have some, I have fought you and you have some skill. To gain skill requires focus."
It sounded like the Guardian was behind her now, by the way her voice was moving, pacing perhaps?

Trying to keep track of her without turning her head the girl rose up a little, as though the top of her head was being pulled by a string running the length of her spine. Seemingly she seemed a bit indignant now muttering, "I'll show you focus..." under her breath before trying to track her movements...
...and then she tried to trip her up by extending a leg.

There was a sharp crack of bamboo as a length of it came down on the girl's leg, hard enough to leave a vivid bruise. "Focus, stillness, calm. These are the point of this exercise. You do not seem to be grasping them."

She yelped. It was hard not to really given the circumstance, and she brought her leg back in to cradle the welt that was forming on her calf. "Fine, fine... we'll try it your way..." she grumbled, before slowly shifting back into her previous position, wincing a little at the throbbing from her leg, "I don't see the point though, I'm not doing anything..."

"The point is you must be calm." The Guardian's voice came again, settling down next to the girl and closing her eyes, a length of bamboo held lightly in her hands. "Anger hides the way, it clouds your judgement. You are in such a hurry to go somewhere, you do not know where you are going. All despite the fact you have all the time in the world. Now breathe."

Okay, she ahd a point there..
She had spent so long being angry. Angry at the world. Angry at the man who made her as she now was. Angry at herself. A slightly deflating sigh followed, causing the girl to slump, before she readjusted herself, trying this stillness thing again, somewhat more successfully this time.
Breathing in... ... ... and breathing out...
