Appearences
Vampires appear as regular people, although the embrace does tend to make them paler, or occasionally darker, in terms of their skin tone.
The main thing that marks them out as vampires is their fangs, their canines lengthening during the other physical changes of the embrace.
Strengths
Vampires are stronger and faster then ordinary humans, their sense of balance is also improved, allowing them to perform feats that would be impossible to most.
Their sense of smell and their hearing are improved, but not to the levels of a lycan.
Their main advantage is their excellent nighttime vision, allowing them to track people in complete darkness.
Upon fully draining a person of blood, some of that person's knowledge and at time memories are absorbed by the vampire. With practise, certain skills or specific memories can be obtained, some vampires using this as a quick way of learning a new language when in a new place.
Each vampire also has an abilities dependant on their bloodline, which are further explained in the actual bloodlines topics.
Weaknesses
Sunlight is a vampires main weakness. Dependant on their age, they either burn up immediately upon coming into contact with direct sunlight but some of the oldest of their kind have been known to be able to survive up to two minutes, although they are in excruciating pain for that time.
Garlic provokes a severe allergic reaction within vampires, although a slight resistance can be built up over time and controlled exposure.
Fire is one way to kill a vampire, or at least seriously wound them. Fear of fire is in built into their instincts, due to the fact that they don't need to maintain a body temperature or cook their meals it has few advantages for them and it takes a lot of effort not to flinch away from it.
Holy symbols by themselves won't repulse vampires. But if someone wielding one who has utter faith that it will repulse a vampire, they will hold them at bay. However, if someone held up a slipper and had utter faith it would work, the same would apply.
Finally there is the Blood Fury, a state looked upon with fear and disgust by Clans and unaligned vampires alike. When a vampire has gone without blood for a long time, or is severely injured, they go into a maddened state in which they will attack and feed upon whatever is closest to them, similar to the frenzy experienced when the newly sired first wake up. To allow oneself to succumb to this state is seen as a weakness of character. On rare occasions, the vampire does not 'awaken' from this state; and all vampires see it as their duty to put down the insane vampire.
